PRACTICE PLEDGE

NEW THIS YEAR is the “Guitober Practice Pledge.”  The “Guitober Practice Pledge” is a way of documenting your work as a guitarist throughout the month of Guitober.  If you would like to participate in the “Guitober Practice Pledge,” you will need to do the following:
  • Choose a piece of music to focus on
  • Choose a clear goal to achieve by the end of Guitober (performance, recital, home video, recording etc.)
  • Document practice log and submit to teacher weekly
  • *Optional (but recommended): Record 30-60 second updates on status of piece from first week until goal has achieved.  Results will be shared on our websites & social media.
    *minors need parental approval.

Talk to your teacher for more details.

RHYTHMIC COMPASS

Our Guitar Faculty member Jussi Reijonen is hosting a clinic: The Rhythmic Compass on Sunday, Guitober 22nd.

Having trouble with reading or playing rhythms? Want to make understanding any kind of rhythm you may encounter easier? Looking for a way to spice up your improvisations or solidify your groove?

Strengthen your inner rhythmic compass with Jussi Reijonen (M.M.) and learn to play, recite, read, compose and arrange rhythms like you never imagined before. Using the konnakol system from South India, this workshop introduces you a complete system of rhythmic solfege and counting that is easy to learn, easy to use, and applicable to all styles of music on any instrument including voice, for everyone from beginner to professional, from child to adult.
